January Happenings

Well, it's been a long time since I've updated anything, so here goes:

We've now been in Houston 6 months. We've spoken almost 40 times, been to five other states and have loved sharing what God is doing in Serbia. We've also had a great time of rest, often taking naps to catch up on sleep! It's been so great to be near and with family as well, having opportunities to be with all of our brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. The kids are all growing up so quickly!

Kurt is enjoying college life. He is at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He has made great friends and often goes to Hot Springs or Little Rock on weekends with them. One funny thing is that he has found a Serb community in Hot Springs and has found a Serb store (with cevapi, ajvar, other Serb favorites) inside an oil change shop! In Serbia we would go to the tire store to get jeans! He said he felt at home getting some groceries at the Jiffy Lube!

Kelli is a junior at Memorial High. She is in Bel Canto choir, which is the women's audition choir. She'll be going to New York in April with the choir! She is also in art, and she has already had several works (drawings and photos) in competitions. She even received the Scholastic Silver Key Award for one photo! She loves her after-school job at the animal clinic. She even has done IVs and injections! Wow! In the next month or two, we will be visiting several colleges. She wants to study Animal Science. It looks like Kelli will stay with Karl's parents for her senior year, and it's exciting how God is opening so many doors for her with that.

Scott is in 8th grade at Memorial Middle. He enjoys art class and especially shop class! He is doing great academically - we're very proud of him! His best friends are international kids - Asian, Russian, Pakistani, etc. His birthday party looked like a mini-UN round table! :) Scott is quite active in the youth group at church and even has taken on a leadership role. He still loves video games, and we recently added a Wii to the collection, which he really enjoys. Scott misses Serbia and is looking forward to going back.

I'll try to get better about updating this with more day-to-day stuff. But don't hold your breath. :)
