Visit to see Scott!

We had so much fun visiting Scott at his dorm!  Friday night, they invited a girls' dorm to come over and carve pumpkins with them.  Scott's group, all video game enthusiasts, carved the symbol for the game Half-Life 2 (for those who know Greek letters, it's a lambda).

Look at that handsome 16-year-old!

Got that Bannert tongue that helps any job!

Dad overseeing the carving.

Saturday we slept in, had breakfast together, waited for Scott to finish his chores, and then we went to Freiberg (a town nearby) and went to Ikea.  It's the simple things.  Then we went back to the dorm and just had a relaxing day.  I cooked King Ranch Casserole for the dorm for dinner - Scott's request.  We watched "Wall-E" together and just talked.  It was a great low-key day.

Scott with the requested King Ranch Casserole!  It disappeared very quickly!

Scott asked for a Serbian flag for his birthday.  We had a US flag at home and took that, too.  He really likes having both flags - both of his homes - represented.
Sunday the dorm had house church, so we joined in that.  We had a relaxing lunch, then took a short nap while Scott "did some homework."  :)  That evening, the wrestling coaches from the school came to the dorm to show a video and to do some recruiting for the wrestling team!  Looks like Scott may go out for wrestling!  :)

Monday morning came too soon, and it was time for us to leave and for Scott to go back to school.  We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to visit him and see how happy and content he is at BFA.  That gives us joy!

Vienna

On our way to see Scott, we stopped over in Vienna (it's about halfway from our town to BFA).  We were blessed to stay with our friends Marc and Kellye and their kiddos.  We spent one day sightseeing around town and had a great time!  Vienna is a beautiful city!  Here are a few pics:

Stables for the Spanish Riding school - wished Kelli was with us

The circus was in town!

Right in front of the rathaus (city hall)!  What a shame to architecture.

Again, tacky.

This was my favorite church to visit - Votivkirche.  One of the windows in here showed a man tearing a Nazi flag in half.  Several of these windows were replaced in 1964.

Sorry it's blurry, but this window shows concentration camp prisoners.

The windows were so vibrant!

Amazing architecture!

Sixteen Years

On October 19, 1995, we welcomed Scott Peyton into the world and into our family! Hard to believe that 16 years have gone by since then!  What a joy Scott is to me and to our family and to everyone who comes into contact with him!  Happy 16th Birthday, Snickerdoodle!!!  I love you!!!

(Even though you are taller than I am now, you will always be my little bee-bye.)

Crafts

I really enjoy handmade things.  And I'm always on the lookout for new items and ways that I can help and encourage those who make and sell items.  There have been several items that caught my eye recently!

First, and most dear to me, is Kelli's new adventure in jewelry making!  You can see (and purchase!) some of the items she has for sale by following this link.  She is also doing commissioned work.  Let her know if you're interested in any of her work!  Here are some pictures of a few things:

While at the Sisters' Conference in Belgrade Saturday, there were also some handmade items for sale.  Here are some pictures of the beautiful pots:

My friend, Daniela, also had jewelry for sale, but I didn't get pictures of that.  Enjoy the creativity that God has given!  Makes me grateful for His creativity all around us!  And that gives me JOY!
