Being at Karl's parents' home while we wait to leave for Serbia has not been dull. At least not for Karl and his dad! (The kids might say otherwise, although they do have 40 acres, a tank, a 4-wheeler, dogs, a cousin, a creek and more to keep them entertained!) Karl has been trying to get big projects completed for his parents before we go, so that they won't have to try to get them done later. Karl's dad is 81 and his mom is...younger.
Here are a couple of the big projects Karl has done in the past few months and days:
Painted the house. Looks great!
Painted Grandpa's shop and one of the dog houses.
Painted the chicken shed (on the left). Reroofed our storage shed (on the right) and painted the soffet boards.
He's repairing the ridge row of Grandma's shop (see him on the roof?), and Karl's dad was putting up a new light for the chicken shed. Oh, by the way, there are no chickens in the chicken shed. It's also affectionately known as the Africa room because of some African pictures on the wall. It's a bunk house with a double bed and a set of bunkbeds. Grandma's shop also has several sets of bunkbeds where grandkids sleep when they come. Scott is currently sleeping in Grandma's shop.
Karl and his brother Johnny and the boys, Scott and Nicholas (Johnny's youngest) helped cut up and haul away a tree that had been cut down. This turned into an urgent project after Karl's dad was doing it and cut his fingers with the chainsaw and had to get stitches in 3 fingers.
It's been a blessing for Karl to do these projects for his parents and to bless them. We're thankful that Kelli will be here to help in many ways as well this next year. We are thankful and joyful!
